Rapporto di Roma 1: Hotel Barberini

After being nearly strip searched and felt up at JFK, our flight was uneventful and we simply strolled into Italy uncontested at Fiumicino. A quick taxi ride to the Hotel Barberini and we arrived at our new home for the next 9 days. Our room was as pictured at the hotel's website; the room was on the 4th floor with a lovely view of the Galleria Nazionale d'Arte Antica di Palazzo Barberini (pictured).

Though early for dinner we were directed to the trattoria Tritone which was only down the street from our hotel. The building it was in was easily centuries old and notably, the ceiling was of brick coffers. Bright red peppers hung in bunches from broad wooden beams and wines were on curved brick shelves in the dining room to add to the ambiance.
Sean ordered a veal scallopini in lemon sauce and I ordered pumpkin filled ravioli with black truffle sauce. Both were excellent.

The real treat awaited us in the morning though when we came up to the 6th floor for the complimentary breakfast. First of all, we could not believe our eyes when we saw the spread of food available to us! Plus, the espresso and capucino were divine!
But the capper was the stunning view from the rooftop of the hotel which looked out over all of Rome!!! We could see from the dome of St. Peter's to the Villa Borghese!

All in all the hotel was a hit and we will stay there again when we return. The concierge(s) were extremely helpful and the staff was very nice. We recommend this hotel highly to anyone who visits Rome.
